What is OpenMRS?
OpenMRS is an electronic medical record system (EMR), designed for use in the developing world and first established in 2004. Today, the system has evolved into a medical informatics platform used on every continent, supporting health care delivery and research in an extremely wide variety of contexts.
More information can be found on the OpenMRS about page, together with a demo.
What is the "Concept Proposal Module"?
OpenMRS has a modular architecture which allows special functionality to be easily added or removed from the system. We will initially be focusing on developing the concept proposal module.
The core of OpenMRS is the concept dictionary, which defines all used medical concepts (mainly questions and answers). Those are used as building blocks for forms, reports, summaries, etc.
Most OpenMRS installations have a concept dictionary which evolves with new information such as new questions, answers, diseases, etc. Maintaining it is not easy task.
The objective of this project is to build a simple client/server module to let local OpenMRS users propose concepts to be added back to the central dictionary. Currently, new concepts need to be emailed in a spreadsheet to the central dictionary manager.
How can I help?
We need project managers, developers, translators, QAs, BAs, XDs...
