🌐 About DIGI
DIGI (Digital Initiatives Group at I-TECH) is a global leader in designing and implementing open-source digital health systems that empower health workers, patients, and communities. Their mission centers on improving the quality, equity, and efficiency of healthcare through person-centered, interoperable technologies. DIGI collaborates with governments, researchers, and engineers to build scalable solutions that support health as a human right. Their work spans engineering, implementation, and management of digital health systems, with a strong emphasis on interoperability, data visualization, and conformance to global standards.
Their portfolio includes flagship projects like OpenELIS Global, a web-based laboratory information system tailored for public health labs, and the WHO SMART HIV Computable Care Guidelines, which translate clinical recommendations into machine-readable formats for better data collection and decision support. DIGI also develops tools for automating FHIR Implementation Guides, generating CQL indicators, and integrating terminologies with Open Concept Lab. Beyond system design, they support evaluation and research efforts such as predictive machine learning models for treatment interruptions and M&E frameworks for pandemic response initiatives.
DIGI is equally committed to workforce development and governance. They offer training programs for field epidemiologists, including short courses and multi-year fellowships, to strengthen informatics leadership and technical capacity. Their strategic advisory work includes digital health policy development, budgeting, and standards application. Whether building national-scale systems or supporting local epidemiologists, DIGI ensures that digital health investments are sustainable, evidence-based, and locally owned
