Creating a New Source in OCL

Sources serve as repositories for original content, storing the concepts you create as well as any concepts you adapt from other sources.

  • In the case of adapting, what usually happens is that you come across a concept that closely aligns with your requirements but isn’t an exact match.

  • You can ‘Clone’ it by copying it into your source and modifying it to better suit your needs. This process allows you to develop new concepts that may not be available in existing libraries.

1. Click on "User Sources"

2. Click on "+ Source"

3. Add a short code e.g., "mini-demo-source"

4. Add a short name e.g., "Mini Demo Source"

5. Add a full name e.g., "Mini Demo Source"

6. Add description e.g., "Content for concepts owned."

7. Select the desired "Default Language."

8. Select the desired "Supported Languages"

9. Select "Dictionary" as the source type.

10. Select "OpenMRS Validation Schema."

11. For visibility, select "Public (read only)" if you want anyone to be able to view the content in your source.

12. Under the "Advanced Settings", select "Sequential" for ID Auto-Assignment

13. Select UUID under the "Concept External IDs"

14. Select UUID under the "Mapping External IDs"

15. Select UUID under the "Concept Name and External IDs"

16. Select UUID under the "Concept Concept Description External IDs"

17. Click on CREATE SOURCE to finalize the new source creation.

18. Now you can see the newly created "mini-demo-source"

19. When you click on the newly created "mini-demo-source", you will notice that there are no concepts at the moment.
