Background

Patient information retrieval and representation is a critical task that needs accuracy and reliability. Especially, many countries do not support national identification numbers and this causes the medical information data management system to rely on non-unique characteristics such as name, birth-date, etc. Using patient image is a valuable information to enhance patient data retrieval reliability since clinicians can match the patient and his/her record in real-time. Currently, OpenMRS is not supporting patient portraits. The objective of this project is the development of a person portrait module that provides support for managing person portraits for OpenMRS.

Note: The Patient Image module includes support to save a patient image and display it as part of the patient dashboard.
Note: The Registration module also supports capturing of patient images, but no way to display these.
