User research meeting notes
Participants
Notes (WIP)
Order request is done electronically through POC
Currently look at lab results
POC (tablet) -
Preferred method [Chir-Chir]
Missing results sometimes
[Ampath] They input the info into the POC manually after getting the hard copy from the Lab
Hard copy
More information than POC
When do you look at results
After the patient has left the clinic and share the results on the next visit unless they’re urgent
What other info do you look at?
Context (as mentioned in this page)
This info is present in POC but not easily accessible from the Lab results page
Blackouts etc are a problem
How easy is to find and interpret information?
Retrieve info > enter patient unique number (20”) > results
Not every clinic look at the same tests. Some tests are not available for certain clinics via POC
How far back in time do you look at results?
It depends (6 months)
Side by side comparison would help?
It might be a problem with standardisation. Different types of results
It would be great to have all the lab results from one type of order under one lab order form
To make it easier they want to be able to compare for one test all the different years. Now, they can see all the type of test on the upper row and on the left they have the years on descending order but it’s not easy
Range
Suggestions for improvements
Allow the lab result to be sent to the patient as well when they order the test
Lab summary - show most of the results but they don’t give any context regarding why the test was performed. And that’s very important. Important notes added to the order explaining why the order was sent must be available at the same level when they look at the results
In general, it’s not clear what the notes are referring, especially when they’re referring to one specific result
