OpenMRS is a global community of practice of dedicated, talented, and generous contributors. We believe with the coordination of committed contributors, we can substantially improve the health of under-served populations by enhancing the utilization of health information.

Community Structure
To help us thrive as a community, we are structured in a way that balances the need for a shared vision, direction, and guidance with contributors' autonomy to pursue innovative solutions to shared problems.
OpenMRS Leadership
OpenMRS Inc is a small non-profit charity that acts like a “Foundation” to support the OpenMRS Community, such as through applying for grants that support fellowships, dedicated support team time, and events. OpenMRS Inc has a volunteer board including a rotating Community Representative seat elected by the community.
The Global Support Team is a group of people specifically focused every day on supporting the global community of implementers and contributors. This includes Community Management, Grant & Operations Management, Product Management, and Technical Mentors.
Community Members and Organizations includes everyone using, contributing to or implementing OpenMRS. They are the heart of OpenMRS shaping the product roadmap, community decisions and sustainability of OpenMRS.

OpenMRS Local Communities
OpenMRS is implemented in over 8,000 health facilities in more than 80 countries. As more and more people and organizations implement and maintain OpenMRS in-country, several local communities have come together to share knowledge and collaborate around implementation.
Funding
Individual donations help support the ongoing expenses and needs of OpenMRS and its community. With the support of OpenMRS Inc, the community also pursues grant, contract, and other award opportunities that are aligned with the community's mission, vision, and values.
